Course Description
Secrets, Codes, and Ciphers

An introduction to the history and mechanics of cryptography. In this course, students will learn how to make (and break!) a variety of famous and increasingly complex ciphers. As part of this process, students will discover and utilize the mathematical tools necessary to analyze and decrypt secret messages. Students will also investigate and discuss the use of, need for, and implications of cryptography in historical, cultural, and scientific contexts.
